<image:caption>Well my first ever visit to the Kelpies at the Helix park on the Forth and Clyde Canal, falkirk, Scotland.
I've been putting this off for a long time, I think ts the fact I've seen so many photos of them it kind of put me off going I like to try & produce a fine art image different from the normal which is incredibly difficult on a subject like this but it's given me a few ideas so a return visit might be on the cards in different lighting conditions.
I have to say I'm not a big fan of sculptor Andy Scotts work but you cant ignore they are an impressive feet of engineering to see up close, I was also impressed to read that the sculptor used the mythical water horses as a starting point but also wanted to celebrate the horse’s role in industry and agriculture as well as the obvious association with the canals as tow horses.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The ladys tower at Ruby bay, Elie, Fife.
Lady Janet Anstruther of Elie had Ladys tower built in the 1770's as a summer house, She was a bit of a character, and not always a sympathetic one. Lady Janet loved to bathe in the sea, but she also loved her privacy. Whenever she felt inclined to bathe, she sent a man through the streets of Elie to ring a bell, warning the townsfolk to keep away. She also levelled the village of Balclevie because it ruined her view.
Ruby Bay is named after the garnets (gemstones) which have been known to wash ashore here and which occasionally still do.</image:caption>

The devils pulpit is the large rock where according to folk law the devil "is said" to have made his sacrifices, it is also "said" that they used to throw witches off the 100ft cliffs & if they flew away they were true witches.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Another view of the Stirling Old Bridge which was built around 1500 and was the lowest bridging point over the River Forth for almost four centuries, it is steeped in history including the Jacobite rebellion in 1745 but it is not to be mistaken for the narrow wooden bridge that spanned the river Forth. This was where the Battle of Stirling Bridge took place when the army of William Wallace defeated the English troops as they attempted to cross.</image:caption>

<image:caption>After an early rise & a 2 1/2 hour drive I arrived for my first visit to Loch an Eilein just in time to catch the first light coming over the cairngorms, it was such a beautiful sight I almost forgot I was there to take photographs.
I had driven past the Cairngorms National Park on numerous occasions but had never spent any time there, so I got the tour around the scenic spots by my mate John, there is just so much to see! I think we'll have to head back some time in the near future.
Loch an Eilein comes from the Scottish Gaelic and means 'Loch of the island'.
In the middle of the Loch, on what may be a natural island, are the ruins of a small 15th century castle. The castle is said to have once been the property of Alexander Stewart the Wolf of Badenoch.</image:caption>

This great fishing vessel rests on Caol Beach, with the snow capped Ben Nevis in the background, the tallest mountain in the UK.The Corpach shipwreck is the rusting remains of the ‘MV Dayspring’ later named the Golden Harvest and was used as a fishing boat, trawling the North Sea to catch herring and mackerel. After a spell as a fishing boat in Kilkeel Northern Ireland, it returned to scotland to be used as moored seafood restaurant, but it never happened, it burst its mooring during a big storm in Dec 2011 it was guided onto the beach by the coastguard & has remained there since.</image:caption>

Charlies Cave or Gilmour’s Linn is a stunning location in the Touch Hills above Stirling, it is fabled that Bonnie prince Charlie once hid there when fleeing from the British forces after being defeated at Culloden, whether that's true we'll never know as every nook & crannie over Scotland holds the same claim.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This image was captured on 17th January 2013 just after 8.30am.
I had been to this spot before & liked this view of the Forth Rail Bridge & the way the waves from the river forth broke around the old anchor that sits in the bay behind the Albert Hotel, North Queensferry, which sadly is no longer there.
So I set out to try & catch this happening during one of my favourite times of the day (the hour before sunrise) when you get that natural blue light in the skies as I thought it would complement the colour of the bridge & make it stand out.
I used a 4 second exposure to create a soft effect on the water as the waves moved around the anchor & rocks.</image:caption>
